It is important for conservatives not to get too caught up in the celebration of our Party’s liberation from this ugly globalist shill.

We out here in celebration nation. Erin O’Toole held on to Conservative leadership as long as he could, but today it has been proven that conservatives, albeit moderate conservatives still hold a majority position within the Conservative Party. Now, our goal is to make sure the Tories vote for the farthest right candidate that runs in the upcoming leadership race.

To circle back to yesterday’s article, it is clear to me that the Conservative Party wants to place Pierre Poilievre as leader, who although would be an improvement over Erin O’Toole, that improvement would only be minor.

“If Poilievre is made CPC leader, the Tories will have won back enough of their voters from Maxime Bernier to win elections. This will get rid of Justin Trudeau in the next election. If you believe that making a compromise on all of your beliefs is worth it to get rid of Trudeau, then by all means, support Pierre for leader. The Conservative Party, while it would be improved under Poilievre, the shift would be toward basically being a US Republican Party except without the opposition to abortion. It would put Canada in the same place the United States was pre-Groyper War. Which again, is an improvement, but not by nearly enough.”

The trucker convoy, the remnants of which seem determined to make those living in the Ottawa core indefinitely miserable, would have been a challenge for any Conservative leader to reckon with. But for Erin O’Toole, it crystallized everything that has plagued his leadership, expressing opposing positions within days of each other, appearing embarrassed to be a conservative, being outshined by his own caucus, and leaving everyone unsatisfied in the end. If it was indeed the trigger for the party revolt that ousted him Wednesday, it is a fitting one.

It is important for conservatives not to get too caught up in the celebration of our Party’s liberation from this ugly globalist shill. We must do everything we can to ensure he isn’t replaced with another liberal progressive as party leader. As the race approaches, I would encourage paying for a membership to the Tory party specifically to influence the results of the election, putting a social conservative as first choice, Pierre Poilievre as second choice an making sure Peter MacKay doesn’t get in.
